Does Candlewick Press offer any internships?
Candlewick Press offers internships in the fall, spring, and summer according to the needs of various departments.
An independent publisher, we are a dynamic company that provides excellent opportunities to acquire firsthand knowledge
of the publishing industry. We are looking for motivated, conscientious, and dedicated individuals who are eager to
learn about the children?s publishing industry and be part of a high-energy, creative team. Although interns are
assigned to a specific department, they will be exposed to all departments within the company. When feasible,
the following internship positions are offered: Marketing, Sales, Publishing Services, Design, Editorial, Contracts & Rights and Art.
The desired time commitment is 12 hours per week and these positions do not offer any monetary compensation.

Whom should I contact to request permission to
reprint text and/or illustrations from Candlewick Press
books?
If you wish to use content from our titles and/or this site, please submit your permission request in writing, via mail to the attention of the Permissions Department, Candlewick Press, 99 Dover Street, Somerville, MA 02144 or by fax to (617) 661-0565. You can also make a request by email at permissions@candlewick.com.
We estimate a minimum of six weeks from the date of submission for a response to be received to any request, but this estimation may be subject to variation. Please allow sufficient time for our response.
Candlewick Press reserves all rights in its publications - you may NOT assume if you have submitted a request that permission is granted to you unless and until we have sent you a formal permission license. You should bear in mind that it takes time to process requests, and we do not always control all rights in the material being requested from us.
When contacting us for permission, please be sure to include the following information relevant to your request, together with your contact details, including a postal address:
• Exact material to be used - both text and illustrations - including page and/or figure numbers from our book (or please attach a copy of the exact material requested indicating its context).
• Commercial, educational or non-profit- please indicate which category of usage is planned.
• Territory for distribution (e.g. local area, the United States, the World).
Please also supply details of the following depending on the proposed use of the material:

you think your illustration style is well-suited to our list, please send
non-returnable, color samples (color copies or sample books, but no original
artwork, please) to:

Please include a brief cover letter and a resume detailing relevant professional
and publishing experience.
If you work in more than one medium or style, or specialize in a particular
subject matter (e.g., people, animals, landscapes, etc.), remember to include a
representative assortment of samples.
Include your name, address, and telephone number on every sample. We also
appreciate knowing the date the work was created and the medium used.
Please do not send original art. If you wish to submit a full portfolio or have
materials returned to you, you must include detailed instructions, return
packaging, and sufficient postage. We regret that materials received without
these elements cannot be returned.
If you would like to send an electronic file of your artwork, please send it in
JPEG or PDF form to bigbear@candlewick.com where it will be forwarded to a
member of the Art department.
We keep tear sheets and illustration samples--including updates--on file for one
year and will contact you if we have or anticipate a project that suits your
particular talents.
