Tom Pow is known as one of the leading poets of Scotland, where he lives and works part-time as an English teacher. He is the recipient of two Scottish Arts Council Book Awards and was shortlisted for the Scottish Book of the Year Award. His poetry and prose have appeared in many magazines and journals, including THE NEW YORKER. WHO IS THE WORLD FOR? is his first picture book and was written for his own children while he was traveling through Africa. "I missed them desperately!" he says. "I ha djust visited the Masai Mara game reserve so animals were also very, very much on my mind."
