Baby Duck and the Cozy Blanket

author: Amy Hest

illustrator: Jill Barton

A Baby Duck touch-and-feel book!
Poor Baby Duck! Her cozy blanket needs washing, and that means spending the day without it. In this familiar tale of blanket separation, Amy Hest and Jill Barton bring their lovable, grumpy duck to life in a most touching way. Baby’s many fans are invited to stroke her downy belly, feel her sticky blanket, poke her squishy bath sponge, and even check their own faces in her bedroom mirror. In the end, little readers will be happy to help cuddle Baby’s blanket, which is cleaner--and cozier--than ever.
Baby Duck faces blanket separation in this heartwarming, touch-and-feel tale for the youngest of readers.

author’s comments:
Amy Hest was born and raised in and around New York City, where she lives today with her husband. She is the award-winning author of more than twenty novels and picture books for young readers, including the much-loved Baby Duck series. "Baby Duck reminds me very much of my daughter, Kate, who is definitely not a duck," the author says. "Although Kate is no longer little, the trials and tribulations of her preschool year - including the high drama of having her favorite blanket washed - are to this day a source of many cozy late-night talks."
illustrator’s comments:
Jill Barton has collaborated with Amy Hest on all of the Baby Duck books, and her charming visual humor has helped earn this acclaimed series numerous awards. "What was really interesting about work-ing on BABY DUCK AND THE COZY BLANKET was that Baby Duck is younger than she is in the picture books, but she still had to chime with what went before," she says. "It was a great pleasure to work on a ‘feely’ book that has a stronger narrative ingredient than these books usually have." Jill Barton, who has three children, currently lives in New Zealand.
