Coloring sheets
Prehistoric mural
Tape a paper backdrop decorated with trees, volcanoes, etc., to a wall.
Provide coloring sheets, crayons, scissors, and paste. Have children color and
cut out their dinosaurs, and help them attach their pictures to the backdrop
for a lively prehistoric mural.
Rhyme time
Read the book aloud and have listeners call out rhymes in response to key words
from the text. Try shaping the words into a poem on an easel or scratch board.
Boomalacka Boomalacka, We All Fall Down
Play "Ring-Around-the-Rosy" and use a favorite phrase from the
book. For example, try chanting, "Boomalacka Boomalacka! Whack! Whack!
Whack!" in place of "ashes, ashes, we all fall down."
