Contracts and Rights Assistant
Candlewick Press seeks a Contracts and Rights Assistant to join our talented team. The Contracts and Rights Assistant will be responsible for a variety of administrative support tasks to support the Contracts Rights department.

Responsibilities will include the following:
- Send and track correspondence and contractual documents to authors, illustrators, and agents (e.g., in relation to new and existing contracts, etc.)
- Assist Contracts Director and Contracts & Licensing Manager with communications with authors, illustrators, and agents regarding electronic licensing deals and track such communications
- Assist Contracts Director and Subrights & Royalties Manager with tracking the flow of subsidiary rights agreements with licensees and maintenance of subsidiary rights area in the company's database
- Send and track complimentary copies of licensed editions to Candlewick authors, illustrators, and agents
- Become familiar with CP author/illustrator head contracts
- Assist Contracts & Royalties Administrator with setting up contractual records in our database
- Research contractual rights on an as-needed basis, in particular for ebook, audio, and sales territories rights lists from Editorial and Finance/Group Information Systems
- In coordination with the Contracts & Rights Coordinator, assist with the preparation of free of charge permissions licenses as needed
- Send signed subsidiary rights contracts to Walker Books UK and Walker Books Australia as appropriate
File departmental documents (e.g., author/illustrator contracts, subsidiary rights contracts, permissions agreements, royalty statements, etc.)
- Complete tasks, special projects/reports for the department as needed

The ideal candidate will have a friendly, professional, and poised demeanor and will possess the ability to: perform efficiently under pressure; work both independently and as part of a team to complete assignments efficiently; and work in a fast-paced environment comfortably.
Great attention to detail, outstanding verbal and written communication skills, the ability to multi-task and prioritize, excellent concentration, an aptitude and appreciation for systems and processes, and proficiency with Microsoft Office are necessary. Prior experience with databases is preferred. Candidate must be a quick learner and be resourceful, extremely organized, proactive, and a strong team player. An interest in children's trade publishing and contracts and rights specifically is strongly preferred.
