Senior Production Controller
Candlewick Press seeks an experienced print production professional for the role of Senior Production Controller. This position will be responsible for overseeing production for Candlewick-originated 1- and 4-color frontlist titles, board books, paperback picture books, Candlewick versions of Walker-originated titles, buy-in package titles, proprietary titles, and other title formats as assigned.

Responsibilities include:
- Generating and tracking schedules, and overseeing production for assigned - Candlewick-originated picture book, fiction, board book, paperback frontlist titles from reproduction of artwork to delivery of bound books.
- Liaising with our London office to traffic and oversee production of Candlewick frontlist versions of Walker-originated titles.
- Liaising with foreign and domestic publishers to transmit Candlewick changes and track schedules for frontlist buy-in titles.
- Working closely with designers and editors in planning and project management.
- Weekly reporting of schedules at production meetings.
- Reviewing proofs for corrections/approval for assigned titles, and ensure they are circulated and returned on time to remain on schedule.
- Working with vendors to negotiate costs, select materials, and order color scanning/reproduction and printing.
- Preparing estimates, print instructions or purchase orders, and shipping information through company database.
- Liaising with London and Australia offices to ensure delivery of books for their co-editions of Candlewick Press titles as applicable.
- Receiving and approving book advances and approving printer invoices for assigned titles
- Performing other tasks as needed or assigned.

A minimum of 4 years' experience in 4-color book production required, children's publishing experience preferred.
Solid knowledge of printing processes and binding.
Must be highly motivated, proactive, detail-oriented, and possess excellent organization, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Able to handle multiple projects and tasks simultaneously and efficiently and deal with issues diplomatically and tactfully.
Able to develop and maintain strong working relationships with staff and vendors.

This is full-time position. While we are mainly working remotely due to COVID, this role will eventually be based in our Somerville, MA office.
