Lucy Volpin loves dinosaurs! Always has and always will! She also has a passion for the colored pencil that led her to earn a BA in illustration from University College Falmouth in 2011. She has been drawing every day since.
Being wildly dyslexic, Lucy never imagined that she would not only be illustrating stories, but writing them too!
“Using emotion and humor, I really enjoy building characters that people fall in love with”
About my work:
Although Lucy mostly works in colored pencils, she loves to use whatever she can get her hands on, including watercolors, inks, gouache, and acrylics. She sticks to traditional rather than digital methods. Computers scare her!
We Love Dinosaurs is her first book with Candlewick Press.
Three Things You Didn’t Know About Me:
1: I have earned a level two in Donkey Care. Very useful!
2: I’m half Italian. My surname, Volpin, means “little fox.”
3: I get very very nervous! Sometimes before a school visit or a literature festival, I have to breath deep to stop the shaking. Despite this, I love these events and meeting new people.
